This page provides pricing information on both "MacBeal - medical expert DIRECT" and "MacBeal Transcription" services.
MacBeal allows medical experts to publish information about their medico-legal practice and enables them to offer appointment slots for medico-legal examination of claimants. Instructors can book available appointments instantly online. Furthermore, MacBeal allows experts and instructors to send and receive documents and reports securely online.
We do offer a free trial to new Medical Experts joining MacBeal.
Instructors can use MacBeal services free of charge.

MacBeal – medical experts DIRECT

We are currently offering a 3 month free trial to new Medical Experts. No subscription is charged during the free trial period.
MacBeal is a subscription based business where Medical Experts pay a monthly subscription fee.
A Medical Expert can leave MacBeal by giving a notice of two calendar months.
There is no charge to Solicitors using MacBeal.
MROs pay a monthly subscription fee for using MacBeal. MROs are encouraged to contact MacBeal for more information.

A nominal booking fee is charged to the Medical Expert for an appointment booked by an instructing solicitor or MRO via the MacBeal online booking system.

£1.00 booking fee is charged to the Medical Expert.

If an expert or expert’s secretary places an appointment into the expert’s own online diary for instructions received externally via post or telephone, then there is no charge. For cancelling or rescheduling such appointments there is also no charge.
MacBeal recognises that the expert may not be charged extra for placing their own appointments.

Account Set-up Services
If a new MacBeal member wants to receive help with the registration process, MacBeal offers assistance with the signing up process. MacBeal Staff will liase with the new MacBeal member or his/her secretary, obtain all the information required for the setting up of MacBeal account and initiate the account. For a limited time only, this service is free.

Each function in MacBeal is easy to use and there are directions provided. But if you still want to be advised, a one-to-one training session is also offered to MacBeal members (by appointment only).

Any instance where intervention is required by MacBeal staff for the purpose of reinstating a cancelled or dormant member account will warrant an administration fee.
We encourage members to remain paying members on a continuous basis to allow MacBeal to maintain low charges for all members.

If you, an Instructor, are not able to find an expert on MacBeal, we offer an expert search service. Upon receipt of your instruction, we will locate up to three experts for you. Please send us your search instruction either via fax to 0845-331-2070 or via email to

Please do not forget to include the claimant postcode and your agreement to our charges in your instruction.

MacBeal Transcription
We offer a simple, transparent and affordable pricing model for our online transcription services.
Unlike many others, we do not use home-based typists. Our transcription centres employ trained and qualified medical transcriptionists who are well versed in medical terminology. Furthermore, we use systems and processes that comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and with the stringent HIPPA guidelines. For such professional facilities and services we offer very competitive pricing.
MacBeal Transcription service is really easy to use and it takes the hassle out of getting a typing job done quickly. Our turnaround time is less than 48 hours.
We offer a free transcription trial where we accept dictations for up to three documents or reports to allow you to get to know our service. During the trial we will utilise any of your provided templates. We will also inform you of the cost of the report as a paying customer. The free trial is limited to one per user.
At the end of the free trial, if you are happy, we will continue offering the transcription service with the charges listed below.

There are no set-up fees. We will provide you initial technical support and install dictation capture software on your computer. An account will be opened for you with a User name and Password for a secure access to MacBeal DocManager to download your completed documents.

After completing your free trial, a low monthly subscription fee will be charged once you agree to continue utilising our transcription services. Your monthly subscription fee maintains your account to enable you to use transcription services flexibly.
As a paying customer, you will be required to maintain an account with MacBeal Transcription for a minimum period of six months – even if you don’t send us any work. This is to avoid misuse of our service.
For high volume users we will waive the monthly subscription fee of MacBeal Transcription. This applies to multi-user accounts. Please call us for details.

Each transcription job will be charged on a per line basis. A line is defined as 65 characters that have been typed for you by the medical transcriptionist.
Please note that if you are using a template, there will be no charge for any pre-existing text in your template. The per line charge applies only to those text lines that we transcribe for you.
The advantage of a per line charge in comparison to a per recorded minute charge, as done by some providers, is that it offers you better value for money. Every person has a different speed of dictating. Our per line charge is a fairer and a more objective and measurable way of pricing.
